Pie à la Mode – October 21st & 22nd, 2007
On Sunday, beginning at 12:30 p.m., the Pearkes Centre will be the venue for a number of family-oriented activities such as a pie eating contest, cupcake decorating, a cake walk, and a print making workshop. Admission is free, but there will be a charge to participate in the individual activities. The Alberta Foundation for the Arts has a traveling arts program and a display of print based media called "Burnt Toast" will be on display. Local and regional artisans will have tables to display their works for sale. At around 3:30 p.m., draws will take place for painted canvasses donated by local and regional artists. Tickets will be sold for $25 in advance. Once you have a ticket, you are guaranteed to take home an 8" x 10" canvass. The holder of the first ticket drawn (at random) will have the first choice of all canvasses. Then a second ticket is drawn, etc.
On Monday, Steve Slade, a popular singer/song writer from Whitehorse will visit our community again. He was here last April. During the day, he will instruct some students at the Hudson's Hope School in song writing. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., On The Rim will be the location for a "coffee house." The students will perform their songs that they created and Steve will also sing many of his own songs. Although admission will be free, we will "pass the hat" for donations to help TACSOTE with hosting these types of events.
